In my understanding of nude recreation - we are not here to flaunt sexuality. Why does it need to be a profile question? Strikes me as a little creepy and one of the reasons I have not opted for paid membership here in an otherwise good nudist organization online. Really I do not want to know who is what sexual orintation. I am not go looking for sexual information when I am in a nudist enviroment. Furthrmore I have a safe and balanced sexual life in the company of my loved one and do not look anywhere for extra cirricular gratification, here, my home club, work, other personal groups and organizations. Why should I be intrested here?

ravensflyinnowJul 10, 2011A better question is..... why is "religion" a question in profiles? religion and politics.........
ReactReply - MEMemberJul 10, 2011
Now, that really is a question that needs answering!
ReactReply - MEMemberJul 29, 2011
If your sexuality defines you, then you should go to sites that define you. I am a nudist so I am on a nudist site. I did not consider this to be a dating site, so sexual orentation to me is irrelevent, and perhaps damaging to the site. I define myself in many ways, one is that I am a nudist, hence why I am on this site.
We are not here to meet bi courious, gay or straight we are here to make friends and participate in this site.
As I have said in other posts, in a nudist enviroment, (and yes I will pick on the gay community a bit, ...WHO CARES!!! you are who you are, I have seen it in the chat when someone joins, " hi, I am gay, anyone else?"" what does this have to do with being a nudist?
I believe the purpose of this site is to promote nudism, not continue the societal stigma that it is about sex, and we are all sex freaks.
These profile items are IMO not neccessary.Cheers
ReactReply - MEMemberJul 29, 2011
sexual orentation to me is irrelevent, and perhaps damaging to the site
Is it also 'damaging' to know if someone is male or female?ReactReply
- MEMemberJul 29, 2011
Well it is not damaging to know, as it is usually obvious if one is male or female, but still it is irrelevant in the nudist context. I still do not see people logging in to chat and saying "Hi, I am male/Female, anyone want to chat. I have only seen comment WRT to sexual oreintation use this approach.
Soceity, nude or clothed is too wrapped up in having sexual orientation define them. Especially the gay community. Seriously, get on with it, Most countries totally accept Gays, they have the same rights the non gays have, getting married, adopting children, Canada has been open to Gays for years. But this section of our society continues to have to advertise this fact.
To each thier own, your sexual preference is just that yours so get on with it and live a life and get off the soap box.
I am pleased to see that the gay comunity is getting more and more accepted in other countries, ie the US, but seriously you need a parade as well?ReactReply - NO

SoupieAug 3, 2011I always wonder the same about the religion question. Seriously, you are already accepted in society. Do you need little statues, parades, and the virgin mary sitings on a grilled cheese?
ReactReply - MEMemberSep 4, 2011
I don't know that either question is entirely useless, both are often aspects of how we define ourselves and if this is a social networking site then how one defines themselves is often important. We are inherently sexual creatures (not that that means we need to be extra open about our private lives) and often have deeply held spiritual beliefs, or may be deeply committed to not having beliefs beyond what we can see in this universe. Being straight man and being agnostic are certainly aspects of how I define myself, and I would imagine those aspects would be important to most people regardless of orientation or creed. I can see how they can be used in a deragatory manner, but I haven't seen any of that here and hope it stays that way.

OcoeecoupleSep 5, 2011
-- All of the sex chat in the room between gays has really gotten out of hand. There are other sites for that. This is about naturism and friendship, not SEX. ---
Yeah...my wife and I are new to the site. One of the first things we did was go in to the chat room. It wasn't long til half a dozen messages popped up asking things like "want to see a rock hard cock on cam?" I'm not going to say it got me riled up or anything but it was disappointing that something like that would be so dominate in a self proclaiming "true nudists" forum.ReactReply - MEMemberSep 8, 2011
I have often wondered that myself. Should not matter if one is really a true nudist. I am a nudist who enjoys the company of other nudists; male or female, young or old, single or married; gay or str8. I just want to be with others who enjoy the freedom as I do. I do not look at others in a sexual way nor do I want others to do the same with me. Just like being nude.

BrianSep 8, 2011No matter how you look at it, this is still a social networking site. People here will still be looking for relationships.

GrantApr 12, 2012Feel, sexual orientation, as well as the other optional questions aren't necessary within the Naturist/ Nudist community. When we attend a nudist venue, do we ask these questions to anyone front up? What counts for me is, I'm meeting people, that feel as happy as myself, without attire and if conversations drift into certain directions, it will feel quite natural.ReactReply - FL
FlokieApr 13, 2012Let's not forget that most of the profile questions are optional and if you don't select an answer then nothing shows up. Even though this isn't a "dating" site, there are many here hoping to find a relationship and then it makes sense to display your sexual orientation and religion. I'm here for "networking" and "meeting friends" so I didn't bother filling in either question because they aren't important to me and don't have any bearing on the friends I might make.
ReactReply - MEMemberApr 17, 2012
I guess its like the questions about drinking and smoking as well, but at the end of the day it's up to the person and whether they feel comfy to answer the question or not.

I agree that it really has no place in this setting.
That being said, I did state it in mine. Why? We need to get over the squeemishness in our minds and learn not to see it even when it is there. We all need to learn to confront our insecurities and demons in our own way and hiding under a rock is no way to live. Sometimes it is not about "Look at me! Loot at me!" Sometimes it is about, "Stop giving a crap!"
True, quite True. I am an Nudist, an True Nudist. My sexual orintation or from an other True Nudist is not an issue.ReactReply - MA

It seems that whenever I read a gay man's profile the majority of them only want to meet other gay men. Women don't seem welcome in any setting nude or otherwise. If this site is about pure nudism then that seems very divisive to me. And I know what's coming. People can friend whomever they want but I thought there was supposed to be a greater point to all of this.
ReactReply - JAjamieg25Jun 25, 2012if a person is gay or not will come out when people meet
there is no point hiding who you are but as long as a person does not use nudism as a sex fetish thing then i do not care and just because a person answers some optional questions does not mean they are not a pervert here - it just means there is no problem being honest with peopleReactReply - SO
SoupieJul 17, 2012I hate it when straight guys expect me to blow them just because I'm gay. I wish that they would stop hitting on me. It ruins my nudist experiences.

planet_georgeAug 6, 2012I think it's a question that's worth asking. Unfortunately it's not yet possible to filter searches by sexual orientation. I'm bi-curious and would like to meet other bi-curious or bi guys but at present it's not possible to filter them in a search.
